Okay, fucksticks! Here's my endorsements for the 2002 elections, as well as a few predictions about who's going to win in the local races:
US Congress, Indiana's 9th District:
Al Cox, the libertarian, is my choice, but the democrat will likely win as he's got the incumbent's advantage.
Indiana Secretary of State:
Rebecca Sink-Burris is my choice, hopefully she'll get enough votes so the
Libertarian Party can retain their ballot access in Indiana. However, I predict that the democratic candidate will winn, as he seems to have a longer list of accomplishments & better PR.
IN Auditor of State: Again, I'm voting Libertarian--
Bruce Parisi, but the GOP candidate will probably win due to being the incumbant.
IN Treasurer of State:
Sam Goldstein, the Libertarian (yes, I'm very pro-
Libertarian) is the man for the job. Unfortunately, the office will likely go to the incumbent republican.
Clerk of the Supreme Court:
Lisa Tennies, as a Libertarian, has my vote (sure, many of you useless fucks may consider voting for a 3rd party to be a "wasted" vote, but so is voting for the democratic Presidental candidate in Indiana--besides, it's more important to vote for what you believe in than it is to choose the lesser evil--you're still choosing evil, you dumbfuck). The GOP candidate is the incumbent, though, so he'll probably win.
IN State Senator, District 72: Looks like since there's no Libertarian running, I'm gonna have to go with the incumbent democrat, Bill Cochran. He's been pretty good for higher education around here & has been in office for so long he'd probably win without my vote anyway.
Floyd County Superior Court Judge: I really can't endorse either one of these guys, but I'm likely to go republican here, though the incumbent democrat will probably win.
Floyd County Court Judge: If the incumbent democrat, Robert Hublar, wasn't the only candidate running, I'd probably make an endorsement, and it would likely be in his favor. However, on principle, I can't endorse someone who has no competition.
FC Prosecutor: I can't endorse either one of these guys. I've got a serious problem w/ the incumbent democrat, who sought the death penalty for a normal Joe who killed his wife & wounded a cop, yet didn't seek the death penalty for a former state trooper who killed his wife & his two children (one of whom was likely molested). However, the republican doesn't look any better--he's a former trooper himself who seems very pro-drug war and anti-diversion. It looks like the incumbent will win, though, & I'll likely vote against his opponent as my friends are more likely to be negatively affected should the republican win.
Floyd Cty Clerk: I'll likely vote for the democratic incumbent, who I expect to win.
Floyd County Auditor: Looks like I'll vote for the republican candidate, Jim Goad. He's worked in a bank & I've found that republicans at the local level seem to be more fiscally than socially conservative. If enough zinesters & intellectual rednecks vote, I predict that he'll win solely because he has the same name as the
author of "Answer Me!" & "the Redneck Manifesto."
FC Sheriff: The incumbent republican will probably win, which is who I'm voting for. Though the department has been criticized over the past 2 or 3 years (mainly for
strip searching EVERYONE, even those arrested for minor offenses), most of the policies were put in place by his predecessor.
FC Assessor: The democratic incumbent will likely win, but I'm voting for the republican challenger, mainly because of the point I made above about local republicans, plus, on a personal level, she seems to have an interest in the arts & volunteers at the local animal shelter.
FC Commissioner District 1: I'll likely vote for the republican challenger, but the democrat incumbent will likely win.
FC Council District 1: The democratic incumbent will win, simply because he's the only person running. No endorsement from me.
FC Council District 2: The democratic incumbent will likely win, & I'll also probably vote for him.
FC Council District 3: The GOP incumbent will probably win, but I'm voting for the democratic challenger. Not only is it time for a change, but the guy's got the same moniker as bluegrass great
Jimmy Martin.
FC Council District 4: I'll likely vote for the republican candidate to balance things out a bit. I think the democratic candidate will win, though.
New Albany Township Assessor: I'm leaning republican here, but I think the democrat will win.
NA Township Trustee: I'm going GOP here, too--the incumbent democrat will likely win, but it's time for some new blood.
NA Township Board: There's 3 seats available for 7 candidates, 3 dems, 3 GOPs, & 1 Libertarian. I'm voting Libertarian Melanie Hughes (who I know personally) & no one else, in order to increase her chances.
Well, that's my two cents for elections where I live, whether you dipshits care or not.
