Yeah, I know it's been awhile, so piss off!
Anyway, For those of you who give a shit, here's the
election results. Looks like the Republicans have their oily little paws on just about everything now & the
Department of Homeland Security (can you say, "
Gestapo," boys & girls?) has become a
reality. Everyone seems to be sick of democrats--conservatives hate them, & liberals can't trust 'em--maybe they should try finding their own identity instead of trying to emulate the republicans.
Okay, on to the results--here's the format: winner/ my choice?/ did I call it?:
US Congress, 9th District: Democrat/ no/ yes
IN Sec of State: GOP/ no/ no
IN Auditor of St: GOP/ no/ yes
IN Treasurer of St: GOP/ no/ yes
IN Clerk of Supreme Ct: GOP/ no/ yes
IN St Rep, Dist 72: Democrat/ yes/ yes (I misidentified this race in my previous post as a state senate race--those results are below)
IN St Senator, Dist 46: I forgot to mention this race in my previous post, but I voted for the incumbant Democrat, who I was sure would win. I was right on this one (Dem/ yes/ yes)
FC Superior Crt Judge: Dem/ no/ yes
FC Prosecutor: GOP/ no/ no--This was the biggest
upset locally. The incumbent had been in office 16 years & just successfully prosecuted a
murder trial (the perp was a former IN state trooper). However, a number of local cops were apparantly
upset with him for allowing a lot of first-time drug offenders to take diversion (though the fact that he ended up sending one of their own to jail may have also been a factor--see the next race for more speculation).
FC Sheriff: GOP/ yes/ yes--Curiously, a
news story broke a few days before the election that the incumbent sheriff gave preferential treatment to the aforementioned ex-trooper while he was being held in the FC jail. However, while this is clearly wrong, the incumbent seems to have emerged unscathed, & gets the bonus of working with a new republican prosecutor, a former cop himself. I suspect the news reports may have pissed a lot of local cops &/or republicans, who went to the polls in large numbers that day (it was also raining--word has it that the GOP tends to draw more voters during bad weather) & several of them also voted for the GOP candidate for prosecutor, either because he was a republican, a former cop, or they just disliked the incumbent (who had also faced a tough primary). Also, about the same time the sheriff's story broke, a local cop took an ad out in the local paper criticizing the incumbent prosecutor, claiming that many of his fellow cops were pissed about the FOP endorsing the democratic incumbent, claiming the FOP leadership did not represent the views of the majority of the county's officers.
FC Clerk: Dem/ yes/ yes
FC Auditor: Dem/ no/ not really--guess there aren't enough zinesters & intellectual rednecks in my town
FC Assessor: Dem/ no/ yes
NA Twnshp Trustee: Dem/ no/ yes
FC Commissioner: Dem/ no/ yes
FC Council D2: GOP/ no/ no--I have to note that this election was won by only 9 votes, & the defeated incumbent is asking for a recount.
FCCD3: GOP/ no/ yes
FCCD4: Dem/ no/ yes
NA Twnshp Assessor: Dem/ no/ yes
NA Twnshp Board: D&R/ no/ no prediction
Final score:
# of Bastard-sponsered winners: 4
# of Bastard-sponsered losers: 15
# of correct predictions: 15/18
# of regrets for voting my conscience: 0
